23 Months - EP

I can hardly believe that my princess will be turning two years old next month. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home, celebrating her first birthday and most recently introducing her to her life long friend. So much has happened to our little family in the last year and our sweet girl growing up, learning and exploring the world has got to be one of the best parts of it all.
Height/Weight: Roughly 27-28 pounds and I'd say close to 34-35 inches. I'm really not sure how big she is, but I know she seemed a lot bigger on September 3rd and we will know for sure just how much she has grown next month!

Eating: Typically Em eats 3 meals a day with no snacks. We try not to have her eat between meals because she eats better at meal time when she hasn't been snacking all day. Some days she eats great, others, not so much. She loves waffles and sausage for breakfast and if you ask her what she wants to eat 9 times out of 10 she says, "ummm WAFFLES!" Mac and cheese remains a staple favorite a long with all the fruits, especially grapes and strawberries, and if you want her to eat vegetables, broccoli, corn, cauliflower, green beans and carrots almost always make it down the shoot. The girl loves chocolate, which I try not to give her too often and she is also a huge fan of soy butter. She eats it right off the spoon. However, her latest addiction is, coffee. She loves to take sips of Mom's coffee in the morning and you know what, I let her, because why not?!

Sleeping: Typically she still takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and sleeps from 7ish-7ish. Her taking a nap is crucial and we have let her go a few days without a nap only to regret it terribly around dinner time. It's really just best for all parties involved that the girl get a nap and I'm not pushing her to stop taking them. Her night time sleep has been really great and although things were a bit messed up during the time change we have gotten back into a pretty good routine. Our next goal is to tackle her consistently sleeping in her big girl bed, but I'm not sure when we will face that challenge.

Wearing: Mostly 2T, which I'm thinking she will be in for a while? Not really how sure kids out grow clothes at this point, I guess we'll see. She is also forming an opinion about her clothes and loves to pick between outfits that I lay out for her.

Favorites: We may have a future Olympian on our hands. Whether it's a gymnast or a swimmer, I'm not sure, but the girl loves both activities and I love being able to have her involved in them. We even caught her teaching her stuffed animals to swim on the baby camera when she was supposed to be taking a nap. She loves to sing and dance and so often I am being chased down to have an impromptu dance party when a song comes on during a TV show or movie. Disney movies are becoming quite popular in our household, not that they weren't popular before with the adults. Toy Story, Frozen and Lion King are the ones that she usually picks for movie time. The calls Lion King, "Tata," because of the song Hakuna Matata and it is THE CUTEST thing when she decides to belt out the song. She gets so into her singing that she throws in hand motions and closes her eyes when she's holding a note. It has got to be one of my favorite things that she does.

Not so favorites: Diaper changes. I keep telling her that if she just peed and pooped in the big girl potty that we wouldn't have to change her diaper...not working. We'll see about starting the potty training after the holidays, maybe. She's also not the biggest fan of her baby brother crying and it typically leads to two responses, her crying and asking to be held or her trying to find his pacifier to calm him down. I prefer the later.

EPL you amaze me everyday. Your spunk and zeal for life bring me so much joy and I can't say enough how thankful that I am that God chose me to be your Mom. You are fearless and sometimes reckless, loving, kind and a bit feisty, but all together you are ONEderful and it's hard to believe that you will soon be a two year old! Bring on the adventure!

Soy Bean - TWO months

Yesterday our little man turned two months old. Two months have already flown by with our little guy. He is handsome and sweet and I just feel so much joy when I look at him. He really couldn't be more perfect and I am so thankful that God blessed us with this little man.

Over the last month Sawyer has definitely started to make his presence known. He is becoming more vocal, cooing and smiling at us when we interact with him and for the most part is only fussy when he is hungry or gassy. I say for the most part because yesterday afternoon he was a bit fussy after his 2 month shots, but of course made a complete turn around by the evening and let Mommy sleep 7 hours last night. Speaking of yesterday...I wasn't able to blog about our little man, but I was able to take his 2 month photos between the fussy moments and this is what it looked like behind the camera.

Yes, that's big sister pulling out Daddy's socks and this using the drawn to climb on top of the furniture while Mommy tried to take a decent picture of our fussy man. I think the sad part is she had pulled out most of the socks before I even noticed and at that point I decided to let the scene unravel. Safe, probably not. Funny, not necessarily at the moment, but looking at these pictures now I see our sweet girl's personality shinning through. Adventurous, fearless and determined. I have a feeling this girl is going to be a force to reckon with, by, "going to be," I mean is!

And here are a few more of our little man.

Although yesterday was the big TWO month birthday, today was a special day too. Soy Bean had his first swim lesson. He did fantastic, which wasn't surprising because he loves bath time. Especially since he has the entertainment of his big sister. Little man also loves being read to, getting kisses and staring off at that wonderful thing we call the ceiling fan. Little man is nursing well, eating about every 2 1/2 hours during the day and lately has only been waking up once to eat between 7pm and 6am. As for his size, he weighs 13 pounds, 2 ounces, is 24 inches long (90th percentile), is wearing 3 and 3-6 month clothing and we are working on finishing up a box of size 1 diapers and then we will be on to 2s! He is growing like a weed and I am just so happy.

These past two months have been a whirlwind. There have been so many happy moments and definitely some stressful moments that have made me want to pull my hair out, but through them all the Lord is growing me. He's stretching me in areas that I didn't realize I needed to be stretched in and helping me to see that at the end of the day, it's not about what I checked off my "to do" list, although I do LOVE lists, it's about me being the best Mom I can for my sweet babies. Loving them and being an active participant in their lives. It's about enjoying the little moments, because I know all too well that before I know it my little man will be the one chasing and picking on his sister and not the other way around!

And now I think it's time to snuggle my little man while big sister sleeps!

Happy Wednesday!
